 Urea Ammonium Nitrate

in/on-line process analyzer 

 

The Sprana's FerSpec UAN is a spectroscopic process analyzer for the real time quantitative analysis and monitoring of Urea Ammonium Nitrate (UAN) product stream in the production. The analyzer measures all main components of UAN, namely, Urea, Ammonium Nitrate, Nitrogen, Biuret and water. At the same time, it can also measure the concentrations of various additives. Moreover, the FerSpec UAN can detect oil or other contaminants in the stream, which could indicate some process faults or deviations from normal operation.

It is an effective process analytical solution/technology (PAT) for monitoring and control of UAN production process, giving fast analysis (measurement frequency < 1 s), full UAN composition, high measurement accuracy and basically no operational and maintenance costs

The accuracy of quantification of various chemical components in UAN is better than 0,2 % wt.

An important advantage of the NIR analyzers as a PAT is that the fiber optic probes (i.e. fiber optic probing technologies) can be used efficiently in this wavelength range, due to low light losses in the fiber optic cables, enabling analysis of multiple process points with one instrument by simply connecting/using additional fiber optic probes.

The Sprana's FerSpec UAN process analyzer can fully replace the routine off-line analysis of UAN samples carried out in the laboratory for the product quality (production process) control often by conventional wet chemistry methods that are time consuming and costly (require qualified staff plus chemicals and consumables). It will allow to achieve a better control of UAN production process and assure the product quality.  All Sprana products go with free calibration services and support for 12 months.

With this analyzer it is also possible to monitor the presence or absence of oil or other contaminants in the UAN stream which could indicate some process faults, or the concentration of some added stabilizer or corrosion inhibitor. 

The upcoming streams of Urea and Ammonia Nitrate can be analysed too by means of additional fiber optic probes.

The analyzer is equipped with specialized software for maximum utility. It can be integrated in any process control environment, using a wide range of standard communication interfaces and protocols, including:

Maintenance

Consumable components are easily exchangeable. The instrument can be serviced quickly with no or minimal disruption of the production process.

Calibration and support

Sprana has scientists and engineers who have an in-depth knowledge of the instrumentation and the application. The Sprana's FerSpec UAN process analyzer goes with free instrument calibration services and support for 12 months.

Software

The analyzer comes with all necessary software packages. The output of the results (concentration curves and etc.) is fully customisable. The concentrations can also be monitored real time directly from the customer’s existing process visualization and control software (N.B. subject to the software specifics and existing integration possibilities).
